World's Most Powerful Laser Needs World's Most Powerful Shark

Every now and then I see a headline and my brain switches so firmly into geek mode that I shock myself. That's what happened when I read "World's Most Powerful Laser Shot Ever Fired" while aimlessly surfing the internet and refusing to be productive. This is a very cool scientific event and the article included some very nifty science facts.

"The shot with the 192 laser beam system delivered more than 500 trillion watts of peak power and 1.85 megajoules of ultraviolet laser light to its target, measuring 2 millimeters in diameter. That’s 1,000 times more power than the United States uses at any instant in time and 100 times more energy than any other laser regularly produces today."

There are real world applications for this thing, like igniting hydrogen fusion fuel which would provide us with an environmentally friendly fuel source. Yes, this is very real, very important stuff. Still, all my mind can see is this...

Because, really, all we want are frickin' sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads.
