Where's My Millenium Falcon?

It's hotter than Tatooine out there.  This is unusual for us so local meteorologists are reminding everyone to wear light clothing and drink lots of water.  It's a good thing, because I was thinking about breaking out my winter coat and having a hot cup of tea.  Who knew?  As I was out running errands today, I came across a bunch of guys who were not staying cool at all as they worked on repairing a sidewalk.  There wasn't a bit of shade in sight and they were on their knees, hacking away loose bits of cement and looking none too happy.  As I made way through the maze of orange cones and caution tape they'd erected to protect me from breaking my ankle, I noticed something odd.  At first I put it down to the heat.  I was seeing things.  But no, there it was on the far side of the orange cones.  A Millenium Falcon sled.

It took me a minute to realize that one of them was using it instead knee pads.  The minute I got home I searched for this wonder of wintertime fun only to find that it is no longer available.  Anywhere.  Still, right now it's June and it's Tatooine hot, but this will eventually pass.  Maybe, if I'm really lucky, when the world once again resembles Hoth, the Millenium Falcon sled will return.  There's a great sledding hill I want to try and I just know I'll be able to do it in less than 12 parsecs.

  1. I think it's awesome that a city (county?) worker had his "geek" on while doing the manly man work.

If you've got something to say, this is the place!
