A Holiday Rant: Little Blue Avatar

It's been just over a year since James Cameron released his Epic Tale of Blueness or what some call "Avatar". I did not like this movie. I tried. Really, I tried to fall in love with it but there was just no way I could muster the kind of devotion I have for Star Wars or Firefly, or even the crispy bits of cheese on my grilled cheese sandwich. I wrote up this spoof of Little Drummer Boy for a contest they ran over at GeekGirlsNetwork last December and then, because I am a Geek, I sang it and made a cheesy slideshow, too. Yes, I sing off-key and no, I am not going to quit my day job just yet. I thought it was time to repost this for the masses to enjoy, or deride. Take you pick. Merry Christmas!!

  1. Loved your clip! And I agree with you, SFX don't a movie make if the story's naff.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  2. Ok, I can understand people griping about this movie, but for heaven's sake, "unobtainium" is not that far-fetched considering that our current periodic table already contains such elements as: Nobelium, Einsteinium, Berkelium (named after Berkely University), Californium, Americium, Darmstadtium (presumabley named for the city) and my favorite, Lawrencium. (Named for some guy called Lawrence?) Is it so hard to believe that the first scientist to discover traces of the new element may have mistakenly believed that the cost of interstellar travel to procure would forever place it out of reach, and therefore named it as he/she did? I mean really, let's focus criticism where it is deserved; like when the heroes discuss how they will never win a head-on fight, and then charge the enemy head-on with cavalry.

    :D

Merry Christmas, TFG, hope the Wakelin compound is cozy and joyous this Yule.

  3. HAHAHA! You are correct....I should focus my criticisms on one of the other 20 or so dozen things that didn't make sense :)

Merry Christmas to you both as well!
